Tesla paywalls lane centering on new Model 3 and Model Y purchases
Tesla just objectively decreased the value of the Model 3 and Model Y. On Thursday, the company said it's paywalling its lane-centering feature, Autosteer, for new purchases of the two EVs in the US and Canada. This was previously a standard feature. Lane centering is now part of the Full Self-Driving Supervised (FSD) package, which costs $99 per month. Speculating on why Tesla would do this doesn't require much imagination. Remember the pay package Tesla shareholders approved for Musk in November?

Tesla's New Model 3, Lime's New Scooter, and More This Week in the Future of Cars
It's been a week since we cracked open the champagne to celebrate our 25th birthday, along with our memory banks to take a look at our history of predicting the future. Now that we're back in the present and once again looking forward, it seems like we're not the only outfit reconsidering the road ahead. Chinese automaker NIO thinks it can make battery swapping work this time. Elon Musk reveals yet another Model 3 that costs more than $35,000. Uber and Lyft are defending against claims they make traffic worse--again--and we have yet more confirmation that systems like Tesla's Autopilot are confusing people.

Tesla tumbles as firm admits it has made just 260 Model 3
Worries about whether Tesla would meet its promises on production of its Model 3 mass-market sedan in the months ahead sent the electric car maker's shares more than 2 percent lower on Tuesday as those in rivals climbed. The moves also followed a series of announcements by rival General Motors on its own electric car ambitions, which included a promise to take'bold steps' toward the first completely driverless vehicles. Tesla strove to play down any longer term risks to the company's targets when it published delivery numbers on Monday that showed output continuing to rise but'bottlenecks' preventing it meeting its Model 3 targets. Tesla said on Monday its deliveries rose 4.5 percent in the third quarter from the prior-year period, but said'production bottlenecks' had left the company behind its planned ramp-up for the new Model 3 The first models of the 35,000 (£27,000) electric vehicle begin production this week. The five-seat sedan will travel 215 miles (346 kilometres) on a single charge.

Tesla has made just 260 Model 3 cars
Luxury electric vehicle maker Tesla said on Monday its deliveries rose 4.5 percent in the third quarter from the prior-year period, but said'production bottlenecks' had left the company behind its planned ramp-up for the new Model 3 mass-market sedan. Tesla said it delivered 26,150 vehicles in the third quarter, including 14,065 Model S vehicles and 11,865 Model X cars, up 17.7 percent from the second quarter of this year. The company, based in Palo Alto, California, delivered just 220 Model 3 sedans and produced 260 during the quarter. Tesla gearing up for new Model 3 but struggling to meet production targets
Tesla Motors missed its vehicle delivery target for the second consecutive quarter and is on track to fall short of its annual target, suggesting the US electric car maker is still wrestling with production issues as it looks to transform itself into a mainstream, high-volume manufacturer. Elon Musk's self-driving evangelism masks risk of Tesla autopilot, experts say Tesla, led by Silicon Valley star Elon Musk, delivered 14,370 vehicles during the second quarter, missing its target of 17,000 vehicles, it said in a statement on Sunday. The company blamed an unusually large number of vehicles still in transit to customers and an "extreme" production ramp that led to almost half of the quarter's vehicles being made in the last four weeks. Tesla said it expects to deliver about 50,000 vehicles during the second half of the year. Having delivered only 29,190 vehicles in the first two quarters, even if it hits that target, it would leave the company just short of the low end of its earlier expectation of 80,000 to 90,000 deliveries this year.
